Utah’s capital city – Salt Lake City – rests against the majestic backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. The Foundation reaches out to partner with non-profit organizations throughout Utah, seeking to improve the lives of individuals today and in the future.  At right; George and “Lolie” Eccles, circa the 1930's.

Our Mission

The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation is dedicated to serving the people of the State of Utah by carrying forth the philanthropic interests and goals of its founders. The Foundation supports projects and programs that have the potential to make a significant difference in bettering Utah’s communities and enriching the quality of life of its citizens, granting funds in the following areas:

Arts and Culture
Gifts to qualified charitable organizations that foster the enjoyment and appreciation of the visual and performing arts, strengthen the humanities and arts-related education programs, provide affordable access for all Utahns to events and performances, enhance artistic elements in communities, and nurture a new generation of artists throughout Utah.

Community
Gifts to qualified charitable organizations providing social services and humanitarian aid to help people in need, including low-income populations, the homeless and hungry, the physically or mentally challenged, and the young and the elderly who may require special assistance, as well as those offering community enrichment for all citizens.

Education
Gifts to qualified charitable organizations, including colleges and universities, that elevate the overall excellence of higher education in Utah by strengthening the quality of their academic and outreach programs, scholarships, faculty, and facilities, and by helping all Utahns reach their educational goals, thereby strengthening the state’s economy through a more educated citizenry.

Health Care
Gifts to qualified charitable organizations offering health-care services and information in Utah’s urban and rural areas, including grants for equipment, facilities, and program support for those involved in medical diagnosis, treatment and education, disease prevention, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and the development of creative new ways to address health-care challenges.

Gifts to qualified charitable organizations that preserve and protect the natural environment, and to those involved in historic preservation including the renovation and restoration of unique historic structures, and programs that foster an understanding and appreciation of the history of Utah and its many cultures.
